A person who contaminated sweets with sedative and distributed them to youngsters at a summer camp in the area has confessed to sexual offenses against two children both between nine and ten.

The accused was taken into custody after eight minors and a grown-up became sick at the facility in mid-summer.

The senior citizen, from the Nottinghamshire area, pleaded guilty to a total of 17 charges when he appeared at the courthouse on recently.

Nevertheless, he refused to admit one particular crime he was charged with, which was against a young boy.

Ruben was remanded in custody prior to a further hearing on November 28th.

'Treat game'

The legal representative, presenting evidence, detailed the defendant's actions to the legal proceedings.

She said his those affected were disadvantaged youngsters who were attending a summer camp which he managed.

Ruben played a "sweet game" with the minors, the legal counsel said, in which he would go into the boys' rooms when they were getting ready for bed and tell them to eat sweets "as fast as possible".

She stated to the judge the defendant had conducted this practice with the young males "repeatedly", and children had previously fallen ill the following morning.

She stated the defendant had been capable of justifying this over a long period as the children being "overexcited from fun", until his stepchild had worries in July 2025.

The prosecutor continued: "Recently" his family member had suspicions about the activities, for good reason.

"They resolved" to investigate in the individual's items."

Mrs Prior KC said materials including infant oil, Vaseline and medical needles were found, and his stepson alerted the law enforcement about his concerns.

She said the defendant went on to conduct the "treat game" with six boys that night - Saturday 26 July - and they were all ill the subsequent day.

"The police had not gone out by that time," she stated further.

The police watchdog, the police conduct office, had stated that it was reviewing Leicestershire Police's handling of the events.

The legal representative stated the youngsters were having difficulty walking due to their sickness, so Ruben's stepson contacted the law enforcement once more.

She explained the man then engaged in the "treat game" in a area of five minors.
