From the very beginning of Campaign 4, fresh DM the talented storyteller has maintained audience suspense with deep backstory, a wide array of personalities, and a exciting storyline featuring angels, evil spirits, and malevolent powers increasing in power within the urban setting.
Heads-up: Spoilers for the third episode of this adventure follow below.
The Soldiers Table Revealed
The third episode concluded with a dramatic pause and presented the initial group of adventurers who will separate from the central cast to begin their independent quest, distinct from the additional parties.
The combat-focused team consists of Teor Pridesire (portrayed by the voice actor), the agile character (Laura Bailey), the strong-willed figure (the cast member), the cleric (Sam Riegel), and Kattigan (Robbie Daymond).
Dividing the Cast
Given 13 cast members, it was obvious from the start that maintaining everyone at one table would be unworkable.
This explains, the initial installments of Campaign 4 serve as an Introduction, weaving together the individual narratives before branching into three distinct groups: Fighters, Schemers, and Explorers.
The Nature of the Soldiers Table
Per the DM, the Soldiers table is for adventurers who are drawn to a typically action-packed fight-heavy narrative style where peaceful solutions are scarce.
At first glance, figures such as the reluctant priest the cleric might look out of place, but the actions of the third episode demonstrate why these five characters are best suited for the Soldiers table.
Reasons to Leave
First, the group has a clear idea where to go next after a violent first encounter with The Crow Keepers.
Casimir of Thjazi Fang—whose passing initiated the narrative’s action—manipulated the enemy for his personal gain, breaking into the secret base, assaulting the character, and taking all the magical artifacts to dispose of.
The traitor then cleared his liabilities and fled to a secure base in the remote area, above the urban center, with Cyd hot on his heels.
Individual Reasons
Secondly, each character has a personal reason to depart the metropolitan area:
- Thimble, as the companion and trusted friend, wants vengeance.
- The adventurer knows the region and warns that it is a dangerous environment.
- Tyranny and The cleric, having disobeyed his house’s orders to eliminate Teor and instead rescued him, have no other options.
- However, their reputation as important members in the influential clan could help the party reach areas they normally couldn’t.
- Moreover, Teor swore a life debt to The savior for his rescue and will now follow him anywhere.
Wanted and Hunted
In addition, all of them are sought by the powers that control Dol-Makjar for a range of causes, making lingering locally no longer safe:
- Thimble and The hero are notorious outlaws.
- The strong figure and Wicander betrayed the influential house and the legion of demons they are allied with.
- The fighter is targeted for elimination by the family.
This means them no alternative but to travel to Timmony in pursuit of the traitor.
What’s Next?
Based on the latest episode’s follow-up content, we learn that the warrior group will not appear the following episode, leaving the remaining eight cast members to assemble the Questers and Planners parties.
Audiences can expect discovering which adventurers will be where in the story’s final introductory chapter, available to watch on next week.
