Vinted Shoppers Share Frustration About Sizing Updates
Shoppers are voicing their frustration due to a modification that led to items being listed as the wrong size.
This online marketplace has altered its sizing categories for women's and children's clothes failing to inform all users about the change.
Digital Channels Response
Countless users and merchants have taken to social media saying Vinted listings now show a modified sizing category compared to what was initially listed as a result of the reclassification.
The company said the revised method more closely matches other platforms.
It has advised users to examine their items and adjust the sizing manually if necessary, resulting in member annoyance.
Measurement Approach Changes
Before the change, the sizing featured one number and one letter, like S/8 or M/10.
The new system has a letter and a range such as S/UK 8-10.
For certain items, the measurements have been reclassified - such as a large size was previously a 12 but now shows as UK 16-18.
Shopper Accounts
A fashion influencer, who makes TikTok content about plus-size fashion, said the change "makes both selling and buying harder".
"Not many brands say XL is a 20-22," which is what Vinted now does.
A different member, based in Glasgow, explained products she uploaded featuring size 14 markings were showing in the marketplace as larger sizing 20-22.
"If anyone [who is] size 20-22 buys them they may become frustrated," she explained.
Required Changes
Charlotte Lunn, located in England, said she had been left angered due to the update requiring manual adjustment the sizes on "every single listing".
"Personally, this is quite irritating, as I'm chronically ill and Vinted sales have been crucial for me since losing part of my income," she stated.
Platform Context
The service features exceeding 100 million users, comprising 18 million UK members.
It has become a favored option compared to resale services such as eBay and Depop.
This is not the initial instance where an unanticipated change within the service has received backlash: earlier, the service retracted a modification concerning shipment methods due to shopper criticism.
